Fun Learning...

How many pencils can we get in Autumn's ponytails?  TEN!  That was fun!

Josh is giving us a nice play-by-play of a book he read.  (This is the part where the man is "in love"!)

We are still working on fractions.  We have also started a new handwriting...called Handwriting without tears.  We really like it.

We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend!

Introducing Ryin

Hi, my name is Ryin.  My favorite color is pink, but I also like blue and black.  I am in the 5th grade.  My favorite thing to do at school is writing.  I really don't like to do math at all.  I like to play football.  I am also Caillou's cousin!

The Wizard of Oz

This is the time of year the movie "The Wizard of Oz" is on.  Teacher and Skyler were debating where the basket was, on the "Wicked Witch of the West's" bicycle.  Skyler won!  He said on the back!  SO...while we were searching for some good pictures to help Skyler...we learned:

The lady, Margret Hamilton, who played the Wicked Witch of the West, was a school teacher before she was an actress.  Pretty cool, huh? We thought so too!

Here some of us posed as the Scarecrow (Josh), Tin man (Hunter), and the Lion (Scooby-Doo).

FRACTIONS...

Hello....we have been learning about fractions...we have been having fun with them.  We can put things in 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5...etc.  We know that the bottom number is how many parts there are, and the top represents how many are colored.  (This is how much we have learned).  Tomorrow, teacher says we will be using cubes to show fractions.  HHMMM wonder how we will do this.

Upcoming events:
November 14:  No School
November 15: No School
November 17:  Family Fun Night at the Roller rink!

Reading-Phonics-Spelling!

We all work from the series..."Phonics for Reading".  We have lots of activities to do for each Lesson.  It takes us about a week to get through one Lesson.  We do phonics, spelling, and reading with each lesson.  On thing we like to do is the timed readings.  Teacher has us read to her for 1 minute.  We like to see how many words, from the story we get, in that time.  We might do this 2 or even 3 times in the week.  We like to beat our score!  Teacher also made sentence strips for each story.  We have to rebuild the sentences.  Autumn is doing one of the stories below!
This is the front of one of our reading books.

Here Autumn is working on one of the stories.
